Las Vegas, the city of endless entertainment and excitement, is home to some of the most luxurious hotels in the world. I love going there for a resort vacation because hotel prices are more affordable then other resort destinations and I can catch a nonstop from Orlando to Las Vegas Thursday evening after work so I wake up in Vegas. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of staying at The Cosmopolitan on some rewards perks (because we have stayed and dined there a lot), and I thought it was time to do an article about it. The Cosmopolitan has long been one of my favorite hotels in Las Vegas. While I must disclose that this stay was a comped one, I assure you that my opinion remains unbiased as I share my thoughts on this destination.
History and Location
Before we dive into our stay at The Cosmopolitan, let’s take a moment to appreciate the history of this luxurious hotel. Originally opened in 2010, The Cosmopolitan quickly became a favorite among visitors and locals alike. It recently made headlines when it was acquired by MGM Resorts International, a move that has left some guests, including myself, curious about how this change will impact the hotel’s operations in the future. MGM has a “gift” for buying and ruining hotels.
Situated in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, The Cosmopolitan boasts a prime location that offers easy access to all the entertainment and attractions that the strip has to offer. From world-class casinos to renowned restaurants and vibrant nightclubs, everything is right at your doorstep when you stay at The Cosmopolitan. It’s directly beside the Bellagio, and many rooms have fountain views. The Cosmopolitan is also across the street from the Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile Shops that offer numerous food and entertainment options.
Why Choose The Cosmopolitan?
There are plenty of hotels to choose from in Las Vegas, so why is The Cosmopolitan my stand out? First and foremost, it exudes a young and sexy vibe that is perfect for those looking to indulge in the adult-themed atmosphere of Las Vegas. However, it is important to note that this may not be the best choice for families with children. On the other hand, if you are traveling with your furry friend, you’ll be pleased to know that The Cosmopolitan is dog-friendly! I haven’t yet done this, because Vegas is a long flight for me and my Luna, but I do like to support dog friendly properties.
One of the aspects that I adore about The Cosmopolitan is its captivating lobby. Currently designed with a dark academia library theme, it exudes an air of sophistication and intrigue. As the day transitions into night, the lobby takes on a more seductive ambiance. My favorite bar in Las Vegas is located on the casino floor, properly named the Chandelier Bar, it spans three levels, each with its own distinct vibe. Level two is my personal favorite, as it houses the secret margarita, complete with a buzz button flower. The bar is shaded from the excitement of the casino floor by hanging strings of crystals, so it feels like you are inside a gigantic chandelier.

Dining Options
When it comes to dining options, The Cosmopolitan offers an array of choices to satisfy every craving. Start your day at The Juice Standard, where you can savor their delicious and refreshing juices. If the line at Eggslut is too long, I suggest heading to Block 16 and treating yourself to a mouthwatering donut at The District. For lunch, Lardo is my go-to spot for their delectable burger, although Hallsteins and Hattie B’s also offer fantastic sandwich options. The culinary scene at The Cosmopolitan is truly a food lover’s paradise.
There are simply too many restaurants to name them all, so I’ll mention a couple of my favorite sit down restaurants. China Poblano serves up authentic Mexican and Chinese dishes from two open kitchens. Blue Ribbon Brasserie has a diverse menu and dark atmosphere that lends itself to a romantic night or intimate business meeting. The Wicked Spoon buffet is one of the most noteworthy buffets in Vegas and serves up an amazing brunch spread. Finally, Superfrico serves delicious Italian staples in a unique super club atmosphere that makes it very unique and a must experience.
One of the fan favorites is Secret Pizza, a hidden gem tucked away on the third floor and is open late. This unassuming pizza joint serves up delicious New York-style slices that are sure to satisfy your cravings. Trust me, it’s worth the hunt and wait!
For those seeking a more upscale dining experience, The Cosmopolitan offers a variety of options. From the modern Japanese cuisine at Zuma to the mouthwatering steaks at STK, you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice when it comes to indulging in a memorable meal.
Entertainment and Nightlife
As the sun sets, The Cosmopolitan comes alive with its vibrant nightlife. Marquee, the hotel’s nightclub, promises an unforgettable experience with its energetic atmosphere and world-class DJs. If you’re looking for a more relaxed evening, there are several bars hidden throughout resort. Ghost Donckey is a small vibrant space specializing in mezcal cocktails. The ski lodge is located inside Superfrico and immerses you in an alpine snow lodge (plus you can sample Superfrico’s menu without a reservation).

Hotel Room Experience
With so much to see and experience at The Cosmo, I usually don’t spend too much time in the room. This is a complete shame, however, because they are amazing. I have stayed in a verity of rooms at the Cosmo, but the one-bedroom terrace with the Japanese soaking tub is my favorite. This trip I stayed in the base king terrace room and it featured a balcony, a large bathroom with dual sinks, and a luxurious jetted bathtub with a big separate shower. All the rooms I have stayed in come with huge closets, generous seating options, and robes and slippers.
Conclusion
The Cosmopolitan will continue to be my resort of choice on the Las Vegas Strip until a new front runner stands out. The one aspect that tips this property over some amazing others (Resorts World and Wynn to name a couple), is its prime location center strip, and the range of dining and entertainment options. I have always felt confident recommending it to friends and I truly feel it is a great choice for those seeking an unforgettable stay in Sin City. I look forward to seeing how The Cosmopolitan evolves under the ownership of MGM Resorts International and hope it continues to deliver the same level of excellence that put it on the map originally.
